An Open Letter to Comcast / Xfinity

Ramblings

Hello,

My name is Stacie Huckeba I have been a customer of Comcast for over eight years.

I realize that it’s a dirty little secret and you don’t like to talk about it, but c’mon, between just you and me, you can admit it. Basically you have a monopoly on internet service, at least in terms of speed. It’s ok, I like money too. Nobody is happier than me when I deposit big fat checks. Sadly, I’m not quite as “connected” as you guys.

I’m a photographer and I think I’m really good, unfortunately, I live in a town with a plethora of talented photographers so I can’t just sit back and be lazy. I’ve sent emails to the Mayor, and Governor and even my Senators and Congressmen asking that they put in regulations to make sure I am the only photographer who can use professional and top of the…

Happy New Year!

Amanda in Vienna

Image

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog! This will be my way to communicate all of my adventures with all my wonderful friends and family members while I spend my Spring Semester abroad in Vienna. For those of you who don’t know who I am, my name is Amanda Fry and I am an junior undergraduate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Music studying Horn Performance. This is my first time blogging so hopefully it’s interesting enough for you all to read!

Here’s a quick background about my program: I am studying with IES abroad and will be taking courses in English at the abroad center. I have pre-registered for classes including a Music History course about German Lied or Songs, a Music workshop which allows the other students and I to put together Chamber Performance groups, German, and Individual Performance Lessons. The last class I selected…

Horrifying.

Horrifying.

Tonight I’m in Fredericksburg, VA because there were 4 accidents on I-95 between DC and Richmond. Despite my best efforts to avoid the traffic, Route 1 was also a complete clusterf*** and there’s no other alternates. Needless to say, I can’t wait to go to Waffle House in the morning and get to drive more than 55 mph tomorrow.

Two more days of driving till Miami, and then it’s time for Salute to Vienna! Because who doesn’t love Viennese waltzes to ring in the new year? I’m already practicing my Viennese offbeats (and looking for new books to load on my Kindle…) 😛

Burrito Friday

20131122-204004.jpg

I haven’t officially started my trial at Automattic, but reading about Burrito Friday in the Field Guide just gave me a great excuse to try Lime Grill in Midtown. I got a “naked” Big Cali burrito since I’m gluten free, and A got the legit one all wrapped in tortilla goodness. I don’t think it was quite SF mission style, but damn. It was good. Lime does a 2 for 1 special on beer and sangria too, so A and I enjoyed some adult beverages. Yum!

On Trial

I’ve been hired at Automattic for a trial period as a Happiness Engineer, and I can’t wait to get started! My official trial start date is December 2, and I’ll be able to work alongside the other Happiness Engineers bringing joy to the interwebs. I’ll still be keeping my Horn in Real Life blog about my “other” life as a professional horn player, and putting bits about WordPress and other random goodness over here on erinapaul.wordpress.com.

For now, here’s a picture of a cat in Croatia.
